Dear Second Grade Families,
As we continue with our remote learning, here are some helpful insights on what your student might be experiencing and ways you can provide support. Keep communication open: Let your student know that you recognize that they are going through a transition and that you’re open to talking about anything. Set-up for online learning success. Many students never have experienced an online course.
Help create a work space: Encourage your child to set-up a dedicated work space. Ideally, this work space would be free from distractions and noise to help your child focus on their work.
Create a schedule and structure for working on class work. Creating dedicated time will help your child stay on top of all their work and class assignments.
Treat the online course like a classroom experience: Encourage your child to treat online learning the same way that they would treat an in-person class. Follow the established rules of the classroom.
Remember upcoming events/dates. There are a lot of important things that happen this time of year. Our administration/office and the Second Grade Team does a great job at reminding families and providing information, and it can be helpful to have a sense of what things are coming up.
Please know that in this unprecedented situation, we are providing classwork, websites, schedules, printables, advice, and ideas. There is no formula that works for every child/household, therefore we are here to partner with you and support your student. Please reach out to us to help make this a positive and successful experience.
Sincerely,
Your Second Grade Team
